Park Rapids Municipal Airport - Konshok Field Master Plan

On behalf of the City of Park Rapids and Engineer TKDA you are invited and encouraged to attend an interactive Community Workshop for the Park Rapids Municipal Airport –Konshok Field Master Plan Update to discuss the future of our Airport. Your participation would be greatly appreciated.

The Park Rapids Municipal Airport supports a variety of activities including corporate operations, air taxi, amphibian aircraft retrofit and training, recreational flying, civil air patrol, etc. This interactive workshop is designed to obtain maximum input from City council, tenants, users, local businesses and community, as well as other interested parties regarding future Airport development. This will also provide an opportunity to identify any ongoing local concerns and needs.

Other objectives addressed will include:

  • Presenting existing and future aviation demand, airport needs and opportunities, and potential sustainable development
  • Explaining Airport’s economic impact on local community
  • Obtaining public input regarding future Airport development along with issues and concerns
  • Provide opportunity to interact with City staff and master plan consultants, and
  • Provide transparent process related to Airport evolution.

The Workshop format is as follows:

  • Sign-in table for the general public to register.
  • PowerPoint presentation and short film, “How Small Airports Impact Local Economy”
  • Viewing stations set-up along the perimeter of the room manned by the Master Plan consultants
  • Blank Full Size Maps of the Airport as well as White Board to allow Attendees to graphically present their ideas and comments, and
  • Blank comment forms will be provided to obtain any additional comments or concerns.

All comments received will be considered in determining recommended Airport development, and these comments will be published as part of the Master Plan report.

Lamb Weston-RDO volunteers clean up and paint Hubbard County Fairgrounds schoolhouse and more

A team of employees from Lamb Weston-RDO in Park Rapids MN donated their time to restoring the schoolhouse at the fairgrounds this week! The group from Lamb Weston –RDO cleaned, scraped and painted the schoolhouse to it’s former glory!

The volunteers also painted several picnic tables, cleaned and painted the bathrooms and the beer garden, cleaned up trash, tended to the structures such as the concession stand, and more.

Lamb Weston-RDO, the largest employer in this area, annually gives back to this community through donations and hard work! They support the Relay for life, the United Way and this Spring through employee donations, helped provide over 3500 meals in ConAgra’s End Child Hunger Campaign. Other benefactors have included schools, senior care programs, and civic groups all working for the improvement of our community.

DEED Offers 12th Edition of Employment Law Guidebook

ST. PAUL – The 12th edition of “An Employer’s Guide to Employment Law Issues in Minnesota” has been completed and is being offered to the public for free by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

The agency said the business guidebook provides a broad overview of federal and state laws that pertain to the employee-employer relationship and offers guidance for hiring and managing employees, developing employment policies and avoiding liability for employment law violations.

The new edition contains substantial changes to the section on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – the federal law that protects personal medical information – and a new section on the Affordable Care Act.

“Employers and employees are linked in a dynamic relationship that is subject to a variety of social, economic and legal factors,” said DEED Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben. “We are pleased to offer this very useful publication to employers in Minnesota.”

DEED developed the book in collaboration with the Minneapolis law firm of Lindquist & Vennum.

Congressman Rick Nolan visits Park Rapids

Congressman Rick Nolan, Minnesota, 8th District, was in Park Rapids on November 6th. He attended a Rotary Meeting, where he presented the Park Rapids Rotary with a check for the Polio Plus Fund. Also, there was a roundtable discussion where various community leaders expressed concerns and voiced what they would like to see from the Congressman in Washington. He also toured Black Swan Cooperage and the Armory.
